Mario Trutanic, Jr. Founder/Coach
Coach Mario Trutanic, Jr is a twenty year coaching veteran at several different levels of women's basketball, he is currently an assistant coach with the boy basketball team at Francis Parker High School in San Diego.
During the 2016-17 season, he was an assistant women's basketall coach at Palomar College where he helped the team capture the Pacific Coach Athletic Conference as well as reaching the California Community College Final Four.
From 2011-16, Trutanic was an assistant coach with the women's basketball team at California State University Northridge. During his 5 seaons at CSUN, he helped the program win back-to-back Big West Championships and NCAA Tournament berths in 2013-14 and 2014-15. In 2014-15, the set a program record for wins in a season with 23. In 2011-12, he assisted with greatest turnaround in women's basketball at the Division 1 level, which resulted in a WNIT Tournament berth. During his five seasons at CSUN, Coach Trutanic helped coach and develop five athletes that eventually played professional basketball overseas. He also recruited and coached ten Big West All-Conference Team and three All-Freshman Team Players, as well as the 2011-12 & 2015-16 Freshman of the Year, 2015-16 National Mid-Major Freshman of the Year, 2013-14 Player of the Year, and 2013-14 and 2014-15 Defensive Player.
Prior to CSUN, Coach Trutanic coached at Oaks Christian High School during the 2010-11 season. At Oaks Christian, his team set a school record for wins and were a Division 4A CIF Finalist and quarter-finalist in the state tournament. Four players from that team continued their playing careers at the college level (USC, Columbia University, Yale University, and UCSD). He also spent the 2009-11 season as an assistant coach at Santa Monica College, helping the team qualify for the state playoffs in his first season with the squad.
During the 2008-09 season, Trutanic served as the top assistant for the women's basketball team at San Francisco State. That year, the team ranked in the top 10 in the nation in field percentage defense. Prior to San Francisco State, he spent the 2007-08 season as Director of Basketball Operations at Long Beach State University.
He also had coaching stints at Mission Hills High School (2017-18), South Torrance High School (2004-07), Saint Bernard's High School (2003-04), Crossroads High School (2001-03), and Marymount High School (1999-2001). He also served as the head coach for Southern California Swoosh.
He is a graduate of Antioch University with a BA in liberal studies and psychology, Trutanic also earned his Master's Degree in Sports Management from the University of San Francisco.
